New Luverly Stuff

by wonkycat @ 2008-06-20 - 22:48:30

Not sure why I wrote the title as though possessed by the spirit of Eliza Dolittle. I do love Audrey Hepburn though. Anyway, sorry for the slowness of updates but I'm trying to overhaul the site a bit, which should be done tonight, so I thought I'd track what's going to happen to it on this here blog. There's the Twitter, live customer service in the Contact section and I'd love if you could Digg it too. Here's a few items which will be going up on the shop tonight or in the next few weeks.

heartstarpearlearrings
I know I shouldn't compliment my own jewellery but I think these are my favourite - they're just so...dangly. My favourite shade of blue with pearly beads - this is what I wish I had worn to my school debs.

And, these are my second favourite. The little silver bars dangling from the bows dangly loosely, they are just splayed for display. Sounds like a slogan "Splayed for display". Oh god, no that's an ideal slogan for the freakin' Red Light District. The bows are transclucent pink by the way.

charmbracelet
Ultimate charm bracelet!

heartbowstarearrings
Teamed with the first two pictures, they practically make up a delicate little family of trois, oui?

picknmix
These are the charms for the Pick n Mix earrings. You pick and choose which ones you want on your earrings. There is a higher availability of some charms than others, so choose your favourites quick smart!

Seeing as this blog can really only be updated when new items go up for sale or similar, I want it to be a 'bits and pieces' site, so things like pictures of crafty things and 'how to' posts (which I will probaby put up on Squidoo too). If you have any suggestions for posts on tips or topics, do feel free to leave a comment of email me whether it's about crafts or just a list of... I don't know, Top 5 Celebrity Twats.

Delightful ideas MB. Might I suggest you vary your black cloth to show off your items to maximum effect. You've lots of bright colours, subtleties, and so on, some of which are not best favoured by a candy stripe background. Lots of your items can show themselves off extra well on a plainer stage.

I like the idea of the candy stripe, especially for your shop image or a stage curtain on your website design. You could ring the changes every so often like restaurants should with their menus, but you do it with your back drops, site and back cloth. :)

you have read my mind menhir - i'll be changing the background whenever I rotate a significant amount of inventory.

I'be just noticed a freudian slip, caused by the type freezing when I replied to you. 'Black cloth' should have read, of course 'back cloth'. That said, the occasional black or solid colour background, depending on the depth of colours shown and materials used, would not do any harm at all.

I noticed it too and only realised it was a mistake after thinking "Yes black would work"! I have considered black but it darkens the tone of my page a bit too much. I'm thinking of using a doily on top of a blue cloth next time :)

Your craft work can stand out on its own, with a back ground that's simple. Be careful with doilies, they have a lace-look, but might fussily detract or distract from the artistic work of the bijoux.

Use a range of block colours, no reason why not, if the colours are on paper or cloth, you could have overlapping blocks, for example, for whatever works best with your art work colour schemes and materials. If that creates a heavy over-coloured affect, then use the different colours on separate pictures/pages. It all creates interest.

Have you thought of draping particular cloths,(a big scrap of satin or plain coloured coat linings) over a low box, like a chocolate box, or having a longer drape over a milk carton or bottle, then fixing some of your bijoux items to the cloth at different vertical and stepped levels.

Just a few thoughts, I hope you don't mind. I hear brainstorming is not PC anymore; I can't remember the alternative, it's something like a thought fall (though it is isn't). :)
